On Vacation
I am at my mom’s this week for a much needed vacation. The boys and Chuck can’t really say the same thing! LOL!! Chuck is taking his usual working vacation at my mom’s! He and the boys are installing a metal roof on her house while mom and I shop, play games, cook and hang out! LOL!
Joe’s ankle is really bothering him but he’s helping Chuck out anyway. More because Chuck is making him than Joe wanting too. He would rather be playing his Xbox with his brand new game he just got when we got down here “Black Ops”. He can walk around on it but it’s swollen and quite sore still. I’m glad he didn’t hurt it as badly as we first thought. I think he’ll be fine to wrestle this year, at least I hope so.
Today, mom and I are making lasgana. She told me this morning that she was the one that found this recipe. She was 14 and looking through either her mom’s recipe books or a magazine. She found it and it was called “American Lasagna” and she asked her mom if she could make it and her mom said sure. Back then, I guess lasagna wasn’t big and they had never heard of it and have never eaten it so they had no idea that this wasn’t “normal” lasagna! In my opinion, it’s MUCH better! Ever since my mom found that recipe they have used it and it has become a staple in my family and everyone on my mom’s side of the family.
Her new husband has never had it, so this will be his first time tasting what I call “real” lasagna! I think I will make some homemade dinner rolls to go with it and maybe some corn.
There isn’t a lot of room for food here so mom and I have been running to the store every day! LOL! Today I need to get some more milk and soda. Seem to be flying through the stuff.
Becky and her two girls have come over the past 2 days and that was a lot of fun! I don’t get to see them often, maybe only once a year if that. Becky taught me how to do my hair the way I’ve always wanted it to look but could never make it look like that. Apparently, there is stuff called “Bed Head” and it’s some kind of hair puddy. She made my hair look really cool! Now, to just be able to do that for myself.

Joe Got Hurt
Yup, went to pick him up at wrestling practice tonight and Chuck came out to tell me Joe got hurt and to take him to the ER. His left ankle got twisted up and it popped and cracked and swelled up HUGE! So, off we went with Joe wincing the whole way.
An hour later we find out it’s NOT broken, Thank God! Joe cried when he thought it was broken and had to be out the whole season when it hasn’t even started yet! Poor guy! But, Doctor came back said it was a bad sprain and he can’t put weight on it for 7 days. Has an air splint on and crutches. He’s in a LOT of pain but happy that he won’t miss wrestling, at least we hope.
Bummer that he got hurt right before we leave for NC! We don’t have my van so we are all sort of smooshed into the rental so this is NOT going to be fun!
Baby Peter Update
Baby Peter was doing better but not all the way. He wasn’t eating and he was still peeing all over the place in little amounts. So, took him to the vet for his follow up visit a week early because I am going on vacation and can’t leave him knowing he’s sick.
The doctor said his bladder is empty so he’s getting it all out but it’s still bloody and he lost 2 pounds. So, could be inflamation or his kidenys. We are treating for inflamtion since that is cheaper. He got a shot and we should see a difference by that evening.
By evening he was eating food! YES! This morning I heard him in the litter box! YES! And he ate some more food! YES! So, I will call them back on Thursday to see if he needs another shot that last longer. The one they gave him was very strong but only lasts 3 days. With me leaving I want him to have the long lasting one too.
So, he’s doing MUCH better now and I hope it’s all upwards from here for him.
Had a blast at quilting today. None of us could stop laughing. We were all telling funny stories and being silly. One of the ladies there was talking about the first night in her home out in the country. She had no curtains on her bathroom window and was getting ready for a shower and she saw a hunter crossing the back field behind her house. LOL!!! I just quietly said, “Shirley, remember, they are more scared of you then you are of them” LOL!!!!!!!! I about died! So did everyone else! We all about fell off our seats! HILARIOUS!!
This Weeks Happenings
Well, Baby Peter is doing better but not as good as I wanted him to be by this time. He is still peeing a little here and a little there everywhere! ARG! He has finally stopped bleeding and throwing up but he’s not eating like I wish he would. I am going to call the vet and be sure he’s still doing okay or if he think he may need more medicine or something.
The boys had a fall sports banquet of punch and cookies at the school Wed. night and man it was so BORING!!! Man, 2 1/2 hours of boring-ness and I so wanted to read by book but that would be rude and people would look at me funny. They do when I am at the games and reading, LOL! But there I don’t mind. Tonight is just the football banquet and we get real food at this one. I do hope we are home by 8pm so I don’t miss “The Amazing Race”. It really sucks that our DVR died and we can no longer record any of our shows!
CJ can now get his driving permit so next week I am going to help him study for the test. We will get him enrolled in drivers ed at the school, I hope, and he’ll be able to get a drivers license in 6 months from when he got his permit. I can’t wait till he can take over some of the driving but if he can’t I will live. We will just take it a day at a time.
Well, Chuck found someone to help him in the woods and they are trying to get as much wood in as possible. Chuck also found some more woods to cut so that’s good. I really do hope he keeps wood going in so we can keep getting money in on a somewhat normal basis. When he gets paid from this last load, he will be able to file suit against the guy who refused to pay him for the roof he did. The court told him that if/when he wins he can pay an extra $100 of which the guy has to pay us back and they will take the money right out of his bank account! COOL! We know he has the money he just doesn’t want to give us any of it.
Well, nothing much really happened this week so that’s about it for now.
Baby Peter is Home!!
Baby Peter has come home!! We went to pick him up after CJ’s intake appointment so it was about 11:30am. The doctor told us he got the blockage out and that it was right near the end of his penis and that was the only one but it was a full blockage. They gave him antibiotics on Saturday and Sunday and then today gave him a shot that lasts 14 days. Why they didn’t get him that to begin with is beyond me! Maybe they were stronger?
He is still peeing some blood but not anything like on Saturday or Sunday the doc said. The infection is still there and he will feel the need to go to the bathroom a lot until it goes away which can take a few days. We are to watch him to be sure he’s getting better. He hasn’t eaten yet today but he won’t leave the water dish.

We should look into changing his food for this type of problem. Baby Peter LOVES dog food and the vet said it’s high in ash and he shouldn’t eat it. I will have to look around for food and for cranberry so that we don’t end up with a high vet bill again!
Here is the break down of the bill:
Office Call: $17.00
Exam: $19.00
Sedation S.Q. Cat: $58.80
Urine-Catheterization: $75.00
Hazardous Waste Fee-In Hosp.: $4.95
Medical Board Cat (2): $58.00
Follow Up Exam: $29.00
Single Inj. (11-35lbs) (2): $65.00
Fluids SQ (500cc): $24.00
Convenia 14 Day Antibiotic inj: $47.00
Total Bill: $397.75
I had $435.00 in donations so I am ever so grateful to all of those who donated to the “Save Baby Peter Fund”!! All the money went to pay the bill.
Since my mom was the last one to make a donation, if she doesn’t mind I will use the left over money to buy Joe a pair of wrestling shoes. He now wears a size 13 and his shoes from last year are 12′s and he tried them on this morning and they are too small. Wrestling starts up today so he needs a new pair of shoes.
