Spring Break

So, all this week the boys are off of school for spring break. They are bored and at times I wished we still lived in town and then other times I’m glad we don’t. This is one of those times I wish we did so they could hang out with friends without me having to drive to town and hang out there till they are done hanging out with friends! LOL!

Yesterday was weird! Joe and I went to Ashtabula for an orthodontist appointment. It was a beautiful day as the sun was out and there were no clouds in the sky! We sat there in a packed waiting room for an hour for his 5 minute appointment! I guess we are to always bring his retainer, we didn’t know this so next time we have to have it.

Got home at 10:45am and I packed up the eggs our church is selling and left and dropped those off at Crazy Dave’s because Donna is going to sell them for me. I then went bowling and I did pretty good, I actually got a 206 my first game!

Then after bowling I went and got my hair cut and I paid for me and Joe as I will take him there today. After that I went home and both boys wanted to go to town to hang out. So, we immediately left back to town. Joe was wearing shorts and a hoody and he went to play basketball at the park down by the lake. By now it’s 3pm and it’s cloudy and very cold! CJ went to Taylor’s house for a while and I went to the library to get some work done. I picked them up all up 5pm and we were home by 5:30.

Then Chuck and I left and he dropped me off at church because Jennifer couldn’t run projection so I said I would if someone would give me a ride home. Chuck bowls in Girard on Wed. nights. So, when I went into the church there was a few snow flakes here and there and that was at 5:45. When church was over and we were leaving at 9pm there was over 4 inches of snow out there and we had to unburry all the cars!! LOL!!!! I had on my spring coat and Deb (she gave me a ride home) had on sandals! LOL!!! When I got home I had to shovel the walkway and there was a good 5 or more inches of snow! And it’s the heavy wet stuff. This morning you can’t see anything but snow! Well, so much for spring!

This is how most of my days go so I haven’t been able to get much writing done. Today, I have till noon and then I have to get the boys ready and take them over to Uncle Dave’s while I have lunch with the girls and then pick them up as they each have a doctor appointment at 2pm and then after that I have to take Joe over to Linda’s for a hair cut and then I will make it back home. Joe needs a refill on his inhaler and CJ is having a lot of pain in his Achilles tendon and the top part of his foot on both feet. So badly that when he tries to run he cries and he’s in track! So, we have to find out why as it’s been 2 weeks with no change. He loves track and is pretty fast but he literally can’t run and he’s upset about it. Today is a track meet but they aren’t going. Joe wanted to but apparently we have a pay to play program and we haven’t been able to pay so Joe isn’t allowed to participate until we do so I have to talk with the coaches and see what we can do about it. Each kid is $150 but I sort of forgot about it and it’s paid down to $115

Last week, not sure what day, coming home from getting the boys from track practice I was talking with Joe and looking at him and not the road and Joe goes, “Hey mom, look at those deer” and then before I could turn my head he goes, “Watch out!” I scream and BAM, she hits my side of the van. Odd, no damage, not even a scratch or a dent. But, she broke her front shoulder and was lying in the road alive but suffering and I’m almost crying so I left the boys there and I went home to get Chuck. It was just around the corner from us. He took the van and I stayed home to start dinner.

When they came back Joe said while him and CJ where standing there the neighbor’s came up to see what was going on and said they would be right back. When Chuck got there so did the neighbor’s and they brought their AK47!! Good Grief!!! Nice to know our neighbor’s are well armed! They shot her in the head and it left a crater in the road! Talk about over kill, but the boys loved it. LOL! Chuck brought her home and when he gutted her, she was carrying twins! I’m so sad!! They were quite big, all white with little black noses. They are now in our freezer. Chuck is a lot like my Grandpa Mathewson, he kept odd things in his freezer too. I guess it’s not every day you get to see deer that little. It was all very sad!

This Week Was Nice

The 10th graders had testing all week so the boys didn’t have to go to school until 9:30am every morning so we all got to sleep in. This week is normal and then we have a week of no school! YA! CJ did VERY well in school this week, it was a get adjusted week as the next nine weeks starts this Monday. He goes to school when Joe does so I don’t have to drive back and forth from the school all day long. CJ goes into a room by himself so he can work on the computer until 4th period and then he finishes the day in school. He is no eligibly to participate in sports so both him and Joe are in track. Joe didn’t like baseball that much so he switched over to track and he’s glad he did.

On Friday, Deb picked me up at 8am and we headed to the Church and we made eggs! They are Peanut Butter, Maple Walnut and Coconut and they are 10 ounces before we dip them in chocolate. I decorate them and pack them up. There were over 30 of us helping and we did 1,105 eggs and I worked 12 hours! YIKES! My hand is SO swollen and sore but I had fun. Deb dropped me off at 9:15 and I had some pizza and fell sound asleep within 5 minutes.

This year I am selling them at the bowling alley and my friend Donna said I can sell them at her restaurant, Crazy Dave’s! YA!! I should be able to sell a LOT of eggs this year and I will make enough $ for CJ and maybe some other kids to go to youth camp this summer. Joe doesn’t like camp as we have tried a few times but he hates it so we don’t make him go.

Today Chuck is going to bowl in a tournament that the local bowling alley is putting on. We’ll see how he does as there is NO handicap so there is no way I am bowling in it! It starts at noon so this morning I didn’t go to church. I made blueberry cheesecake muffins for breakfast and I’m on the computer and I’m watching a movie and just relaxing! Very nice!

I’m in a class at church learning how to run the sound board so I will be part of the sound team. Odd I will be the only woman on the sound team and there are no men on the projection team, LOL! So, soon I will be able to do both but NOT at the same time, LOL! I think the sound class is a month long? Could be a bit longer, not sure. Will be nice when I am “certified” to run the board, LOL! Such small things make me happy! :)

These pictures are for Deborah White. She is a friend of mine and I chat with her and sometimes while I am chatting with her I am running projection and she wants to know what my church looks like so I took some pictures for her so she can “see” where I am. LOL!!

I thought I had some of the sound room but I can’t find them so I will have to take some more sometime and show you the place where I run projection and I’ll take a picture of our sound board! :)

Another Snow Storm

We have been getting a lot of rain lately and places have been flooding. It rained all day Thursday and when I picked Joe up from school he told me that school was going to be canceled the next day because of snow. I didn’t believe him so when I got home I turned on the weather radio and sure enough, we were supposed to get a foot of snow over night! I got a call at 5:30am and sure enough, school was closed for the day! We got over a foot and it kept snowing and snowing and snowing until late last night. We had to shovel a few times.

We ran out of propane on Wed. and they were coming yesterday to give us more but because of all the snow they wouldn’t come into our driveway so we didn’t get any and now we won’t get any until Monday!! I didn’t have the money to fill it any sooner and really I still don’t but we had to do something since we were under 5% so I went and signed up for emergency HEAP assistance and we qualified and they are paying $600 to the gas company and we’ll get over half a tank which will be enough until next winter. But because of the storm I cannot cook and we have no furnace. The hot water is electric Thank God! We have 3 small electric heaters which we are running and I have a nice big electric heater in the mudroom that runs along the floor and I filled my roaster with water and have it at 400 degrees and it’s amazing at how warm we actually are! Thank God it’s not REAL cold or we would be!

I hate that I can’t cook, I was going to make pizza subs but no oven! I couldn’t leave yesterday because of the snow so we are out of milk and don’t really have anything to eat that I don’t have to cook. Today the roads are better and the boys have bowling so I will shop for quick food and pray that Monday comes fast! LOL!

Last weekend we had a storm (rain) and we lost our Internet. They came and fixed the line but our wireless modem died!! We all use it and now we have a 20 foot Ethernet cord that we ALL have to share!! CJ needs the internet for school and I need it for work and Joe likes it when he comes home. *SIGH* The wireless modem I wanted our Walmart didn’t have so I had to buy it on their online store and it’s ships free to our Walmart BUT it takes over a week!!! ARG!! So, we take turns with the Internet and it SUCKS!

The boys were supposed to go to a birthday party last night in Cleveland. They met her at camp and it’s her 16th birthday party but the storm was so bad and all the way to her house was in the VERY dark blue and the tires on my van are just about bald so they weren’t able to go. If we still had the rental car I would have taken them but with the van you aren’t able to stop and CJ and I were in an accident like that before in the winter with bad tires and it’s our only vehicle so I couldn’t risk it.

CJ is going back to school on Monday. He is going to try going the last half of the day and he’ll do the first half classes online. Next week really doesn’t matter as CJ finishes his nine weeks a week before the school does so that’s good he’ll get a week to just readjust. He will still go to therapy twice a week and he’ll only be missing gym class so it’s no big deal. I would have changed it if it was a class like math.
