I went to have a hearing test today.  I haven’t had one since before the boys were born.  The machine didn’t go past zero, so it really wasn’t much of a test.  Today’s was more intense and I ended up crying in her office.

The middle ear thingy test was loud and painful.  Wasn’t supposed to be, said it was in normal speaking range.  The sound proof box was SO nice!  I told her I wanted it to be my office!  LOL!  So, I am to push a button when I hear any sound in first the right ear.  Then she speaks in a microphone and says some words that I have to repeat.  What was odd, I thought I was hearing her through the box and not in the headphones.

So, test done I find out that 20 to zero is normal range with 20 being on the low end of normal and zero being the high end.  I am -5 and -10 straight across the board.  In fact, she said I probably am more than -10 but their machine doesn’t go that high.  This is in BOTH ears, they are basically the same.  I am NOT below -5 in anything!

I told her about hearing her, not in the headphones, but like I heard her through the box and she said, no way, it’s sound proof.  I stated this three times and then I said, can I try it?  She said sure, so she put my back into the sound proof box, shut the door and started talking in normal conversational tones and I heard every word she said and when she opened the door I told her everything she said.  She was shocked.  I said, your box isn’t really sound proof, she said it is, just not to me.  I told her I’m sorry for cheating on the hearing test since I wasn’t hearing her through the headphones, she laughed and said that wasn’t cheating, LOL!

But, there is nothing really that can be done.  She is going to look into it for me and see what she can find out.  I want something made for my ears that can tone down the world.  I went to the wrestling match at the high school, the boys didn’t wrestle as they didn’t have anyone in their weight class from the other school.  Anyway, the gym was SO loud, I had a HUGE headache and just wanted to cry.  SIGH!  Now I know why I like staying at home so much and never going anywhere and this is probably why I hate shopping so much.

Well, since Joe didn’t wrestle, he wants to go to the tournament tomorrow so he bowled out tonight for his league.  He bowled really bad, had a horrible attitude and just gave up.  I HATE when Joe acts like that!  He bowled in the 50′s and didn’t do his team much good.

We found out that Joe also has exercise induced asthma.  He know has an inhaler that he takes everywhere with him.  We always thought he was just out of shape when he complained about it hurting and he couldn’t breathe.  If he didn’t complain so much already, we may have thought more about it.  I don’t know anyone who is more negative or who complains as much as him.  He can suck the life right out of you!
